St. George’s Society of New York in partnership with the UK’s Department for International Trade has announced that Gareth Jones has been voted to receive the 2018 British Leadership Award at its eighth annual British Bash at Edison Ballroom in New York City on Thursday 29th November 2018.

The award recognizes his achievements in leadership and innovation within British business community in New York.

Jones is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of FinTech Collective, a leading sector-focused venture capital firm, based in New York City and investing globally. Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, he was a successful entrepreneur and business leader who helped build and sell three category leading FinTech companies including Multex which IPO’d and then successfully sold to Reuters, Serverside which sold to Gemalto, a European digital security company and CardLab which was successfully acquired by Blackhawk Networks a global leader in prepaid gift, reward and incentive technologies and solutions.

“Gareth is setting the standard for leadership, innovation and social responsibility and we are thrilled to recognize his achievements with this award,” said Anna Titley, Executive Director of St. George’s Society. “It is a great achievement to be selected among a distinguished slate of nominees, all of whom demonstrate how UK leadership is having an impact on business and the community here in New York.”

Jones will be honored alongside Major League Soccer star, Bradley Wright-Phillips who will receive the Anglo-American Cultural Award presented by his father Ian Wright MBE.

As one of St. George’s Society’s largest fundraising events of the year, the gala is expected to welcome more than 300 people including business leaders, honored guests and supporters of the charity. Attendees will enjoy an evening of live music, dining, dancing, a charity auction and recognition of the night’s honorees.

Sponsors include Wetherby-Pembridge School, Virgin Atlantic, Ahmad Tea, dotmailer and UK Alumni Group New York.

Proceeds from the event support St. George’s Society’s charitable programs protecting the elderly at risk of homelessness, enabling low-income students to complete their college education and supporting families affected by pediatric cancer traveling to New York for treatment.

Gareth is setting the standard for leadership, innovation and social responsibility, and we are thrilled to recognize his achievements with this award.
